Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego Undergoes Multi-Phase Renovation Through 2026

The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego has launched a large-scale renovation project set to unfold in phases through winter 2026. The transformation will encompass all 1,628 guestrooms and suites, 320,000 square feet of meeting and event space, dining venues, and recreational areas.

According to general manager Dena Roady, the redesign aims to create an "elevated and modern atmosphere that celebrates our iconic bayfront setting." The guestroom and suite renovations will take place in two phases, with the Seaport Tower expected to be completed in winter 2025, followed by the Harbor Tower in summer 2026. Inspired by classic yacht design, the new interiors will feature rich wood finishes and subtle blue tones.

Meeting and event spaces will undergo a comprehensive upgrade, including a redesign of the Harbor and Seaport ballrooms. The hotel plans to incorporate "sophisticated seaside design with next-generation technology," featuring enterprise-grade WiFi and integrated audiovisual systems. Custom carpeting and lighting in pre-function and breakout areas will be designed to mimic ocean waves, while newly refreshed outdoor terraces will provide panoramic bay views.

Dining enhancements are also part of the renovation. The signature restaurant, Sally’s, will reopen in March with a reimagined open-air waterfront concept, offering Baja Med-inspired cuisine curated by chef Alvaro Garcia. The menu will feature dishes such as grilled octopus, ceviche, fish tacos, and a seafood tower. Meanwhile, the Top of the Hyatt bar on the 40th floor is set to close in late 2025 for renovations, with plans to reopen in early 2026.

The hotel’s recreational facilities will be upgraded to provide an "elevated resort experience." Renovations include updates to the two rooftop pool decks overlooking the harbor and city skyline. A new full-service adult pool with cocktail service is slated to debut on the third floor in winter 2025, while a redesigned family pool on the fourth floor will follow in winter 2026. Additional enhancements include an upgraded fitness center and refreshed sports courts, expected to be completed by mid-2026.

Located about a half-mile from the San Diego Convention Center, the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego aims to redefine luxury hospitality in the city through its extensive transformation.
