Four National Parks With Nearby Rooms Advertised From $50

Travelers can compare established lodging markets near four parks, where advertised 2026 room-rate examples run about $50 to $110 and vary by season and local events.

A national park trip does not have to come with a resort-size room bill. Motels near Joshua Tree National Park can cost as little as $60 a night, and budget hotels near Mammoth Cave sometimes advertise rooms for less, according to Worldatlas. Its report identifies established lodging markets near four parks where travelers have several lower-cost places to look, rather than a lone budget option.

The report covers Joshua Tree, Mammoth Cave, Hot Springs and Congaree, with budget rooms generally available for about $50 to $110 per night in 2026, according to Worldatlas. The common thread is not a new hotel sale or park discount program. It is access to towns and cities with competing lodging properties.

For travelers watching every dollar, that makes the report a useful starting point, not a promise at checkout. Worldatlas cautions that its prices are examples rather than guaranteed rates. It does not specify room types, taxes, fees or booking conditions, so the advertised nightly price alone does not establish the final cost.

Joshua Tree: Start With the Entrance, Not Just the Price

Worldatlas identifies Twentynine Palms, just outside Joshua Tree’s north entrance, as one of the more affordable places to stay near the park. Its Joshua Tree section reports advertised rooms for roughly $55 to $100 a night on selected dates in 2026 at Motel 6 and independent properties, offering alternatives to more expensive accommodations elsewhere in the desert region.

The location is part of the value. According to Worldatlas, staying on the north side keeps visitors a short drive from the park’s rock formations and Joshua tree groves. The north entrance can also be less congested than the popular west entrance. That makes entrance access worth checking alongside the room price, rather than treating every hotel described as near Joshua Tree as interchangeable.

A separate lodging guide from Journey Fanatics reinforces that geographic distinction. It describes accommodations spread across Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, Desert Hot Springs and the broader Palm Springs and Palm Desert area. Its suggested starting point is choosing how close you want to be to an entrance and whether you want a desert-town or resort base.

Timing matters, too. Journey Fanatics reports higher prices and fewer last-minute openings in autumn and spring, while summer brings both heat and deals. For a budget search this fall, I would treat the lowest advertised rate as a lead to investigate, not the number to build the whole trip around.

Mammoth Cave: Cave City Gives Travelers Several Options

Near Mammoth Cave National Park, Worldatlas points to Cave City, where Red Roof Inn, Econo Lodge, Days Inn and independent properties cluster near Interstate 65. Budget listings range from approximately $50 to $95 a night on selected dates in 2026, according to the publication.

Worldatlas puts the drive from Cave City to the park’s visitor center at generally about 15 minutes. That is a useful distinction: these are nearby town accommodations, not rooms inside the park, but the report describes a short drive rather than a distant budget base.

The publication attributes Cave City’s motel supply to decades of consistent park demand. For a price-conscious traveler, the appeal is having several properties to compare in the same lodging market. My approach would be to search Cave City across the intended stay dates before committing to a particular brand. The report supports that comparison-shopping opportunity; it does not establish that every named hotel offers the lowest rate.

Hot Springs: Walking Access and Lower Rates Are Different Choices

Hot Springs National Park offers a different setup because the town and park essentially share an address, Worldatlas reports. Bathhouse Row runs through downtown, with independent hotels and motels on surrounding streets. The publication identifies The Happy Hollow as being within walking distance of the historic bathhouses, without assigning it a nightly price.

The specific budget-rate example is farther south. According to Worldatlas, Motel 6 near Lake Hamilton has advertised rooms around $60 to $90 a night in 2026, with a short drive required to reach the park.

Keep those two details separate when searching: the walking-distance property is not the property attached to that price range. Worldatlas also warns that Hot Springs can become more expensive during Oaklawn’s horse racing season, which begins November 27 in 2026. Travelers planning around that date should compare current listings rather than carry the report’s example prices into their budget unchanged.

Congaree: A City Base Expands the Search

For Congaree National Park, the affordable lodging strategy is to look beyond the immediate gateway area. The park lies near Hopkins, but Columbia supplies a much larger hotel market within roughly 30 minutes of the park, according to Worldatlas.

The publication reports budget properties commonly advertising rates around $75 to $110 a night in 2026. Columbia’s hotels serve business travelers and university visitors, rather than depending primarily on park tourism, Worldatlas notes. Here, the choice is a broader city lodging market paired with a drive to the park, not an inexpensive room beside an entrance.

Use the Rates as a Search Map

I would use this report to choose where to search before choosing where to sleep. Twentynine Palms, Cave City, Hot Springs and Columbia offer different combinations of price and access, and the cheapest-looking listing is only useful if its location fits the visit.

Worldatlas recommends checking current listings, comparing nearby towns and adjusting travel dates. That is the grounded promise here: several places to look for an affordable bed near a national park, not a guaranteed bargain on every night.
