Brightline West has officially launched construction on a high-speed rail line that will connect Las Vegas and Southern California, with an anticipated completion date in 2028. This significant milestone was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony at the future Brightline West train station in Las Vegas, attended by Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Brightline West executives, and local government officials.
The new rail line will run along the median of Interstate 15, covering a total distance of 218 miles. Stops will include Victor Valley, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga, making the route highly accessible to Southern California travelers.
A key feature of the Brightline West trains is their fully electric design, allowing them to reach speeds of 200 miles per hour. This speed will reduce the travel time between Las Vegas and Southern California to approximately two hours, cutting the typical driving time in half.
The Las Vegas station will occupy a 110-acre property near the Las Vegas Strip, providing convenient access to key landmarks such as Harry Reid International Airport, the Las Vegas Convention Center, and Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders. This strategic location further enhances the convenience and appeal of the new rail service, promising a faster and more sustainable travel option for tourists and locals alike.
