Amtrak is providing travelers with an affordable alternative to East Coast road trips by offering tickets for its auto train at a starting price of just $39 per person. This special promotion is available for bookings made until August 18 and is applicable for northbound journeys from August 21 through December 20.

The auto train, which operates along the I-95 corridor, connects Sanford, Florida, to Lorton, Virginia. The journey spans approximately 17.5 hours. This unique service allows passengers to travel with their vehicles, offering both seat bookings and private rooms on the train. While the base ticket starts at $39 for coach seating, there are additional charges for transporting vehicles.

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, Amtrak is offering private roomettes at $239 per individual or $339 for a pair. These roomettes come with upgraded bedding, pillows, towels, a dedicated attendant, complimentary meals, and shared restroom and shower facilities in each car. For an even more exclusive experience, private bedrooms are available at $439 per person or $539 for two travelers. These bedrooms include a sink, restroom, and private shower.

Coach seat passengers aren't left out of the perks; they will receive a complimentary continental breakfast before reaching their destination.

However, travelers should note the blackout dates during which the sale is not applicable: November 10-11, November 17-19, and November 24-25.

In related news, Amtrak is also working on enhancing its Acela trains on the East Coast. These upgrades will feature modern amenities such as contactless luggage storage, USB ports, and winged headrests. The revamped fleet is set to debut in 2024.

This limited-time offer is part of Amtrak's efforts to provide cost-effective and convenient travel options, allowing passengers to explore the East Coast without the hassle of driving.
