Adventure travel company andBeyond has announced plans to introduce a luxury river expedition yacht, Amazon Explorer, to the Peruvian Amazon in September 2026. The vessel, currently under construction at the SIMA shipyard in Iquitos, Peru, will operate itineraries ranging from three to seven nights, navigating from Iquitos to the biodiverse Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

According to andBeyond executive chairman and CEO Joss Kent, the company selected Iquitos as its base due to the narrower river paths and reduced waterway traffic in the region, allowing for a more intimate and immersive experience.

The yacht is being designed by renowned yacht architect Ken Freivokh and Adriana Hoyos Interior Design. Inspired by the indigenous Shipibo-Conibo people, the interiors will incorporate traditional Amazonian motifs and local artwork. The vessel will accommodate up to 32 passengers across 15 suites, including 12 luxury suites, two superior suites, and one deluxe suite.

Amenities on board will include a spa, gym, dining area, an interactive cooking station, pool deck, and a lounge designed for relaxation and leisure. Passengers will also be able to participate in guided excursions such as rainforest walks, nighttime wildlife explorations, and river journeys by skiff or kayak. All activities will be led by expert naturalist guides.

In line with its sustainable ethos, andBeyond plans to support community-based conservation efforts. Initiatives include a program to restore local river turtle populations and the establishment of a scholarship fund for local students, emphasizing the company’s commitment to responsible tourism and regional development.
