Washington travelers face fresh privacy worries after reports that airlines sold five billion U.S. flight records to federal agencies.

WASHINGTON — A newly surfaced investigation has shaken the confidence of frequent flyers in Washington and nationwide: several of the largest U.S. airlines have been funneling detailed passenger data to federal authorities, apparently without a warrant or any direct notice to the people in those booking queues.

Seasonal nonstop weekend flights set for spring 2026, Palm Springs International Airport confirmed that Southwest will launch twice-weekly nonstop service to Austin–Bergstrom International Airport. The flights are scheduled to run every Saturday and Sunday from 5 March through 6 April 2026, tapping into peak spring-break demand as well as early festival season in both cities.
