Newest U.S. advisory applies a patchwork of levels
Washington’s Aug. 12 notice classifies Mexico’s thirty-two states on a sliding scale. Quintana Roo—home to Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen—joins other tourist magnets under Level 2, meaning visitors should heighten awareness because of terrorism, crime, and kidnapping concerns.
