Carnival in Rio, cherry blossom season in Japan or December cruising through New Zealand’s sounds? Crystal’s latest itinerary release gives those seasonal highlights a place on the calendar, though you’ll need to look well beyond your next vacation.

The line has announced voyages aboard Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Grace from October 2028 through May 2029, spanning Asia-Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America and the Atlantic, according to Travelnews.co. The release includes new port calls, festive sailings and Grace’s first South American season.

Bookings open Oct. 20, 2026, according to TTR Weekly. For travelers sorting through the announcement, the useful distinction is where each ship goes and when: Symphony moves from Asia toward Australia and New Zealand, Grace heads from the Caribbean to South America, and Serenity crosses the Pacific before spending spring in Japan.

Crystal Grace heads to South America in February 2029

Grace’s contribution to the schedule is particularly notable because it falls within the ship’s inaugural year. Beginning Nov. 20, 2028, it will operate voyages from Fort Lauderdale before turning south in February 2029 for its first South American season, according to Cruise Industry News.

Brazil is more than a passing mention. Travelnews.co reports that the itinerary includes an extended stay in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival season, followed by a broader journey along the continent. That extended call is a useful detail for anyone whose interest centers on Rio rather than simply adding Brazil to a cruise itinerary.

According to Cruise Industry News, Grace will sail along Brazil’s coast and continue through Uruguay and Argentina toward Patagonia. The program also includes the ship’s first visit to Îles du Salut. After cruising Cape Horn on Feb. 27, it will head into the Chilean fjords, visit Laguna San Rafael and call at Puerto Chacabuco, Castro, Puerto Montt and Valparaiso.

The route then turns north along South America’s Pacific coast. Cruise Industry News places Grace’s first Panama Canal transit on March 22, followed by a return to the Caribbean and Central America. From there, the ship will head to Bermuda and cross the Atlantic to the Azores.

Grace’s schedule doesn’t end at that crossing. Madeira, the Canary Islands and Morocco follow before the series concludes in Lisbon on May 2, 2029, Cruise Industry News reports. South America is the headline here, but the later Atlantic portion offers a distinctly different part of the same seasonal deployment.

Crystal Symphony pairs Japan with New Zealand’s sounds

Symphony starts this itinerary series on Oct. 3, 2028, with voyages calling at Tokyo, Shimizu, Nagoya, Osaka, Kochi and Nagasaki before continuing to Incheon and Busan in South Korea, according to Cruise Industry News.

The Japan program extends well beyond those initial calls. Cruise Industry News also lists Sakaiminato, Maizuru, Kanazawa, Niigata, Akita and Aomori along the Sea of Japan coast, followed by Amami and Okinawa farther south. For travelers comparing the ships’ Japan offerings, timing is an important distinction: Symphony’s series begins in October, while Serenity’s spring Japan program comes later.

Symphony will then sail through Taiwan, the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Travelnews.co identifies a new visit to Surabaya, Indonesia, and a call at Rinca Island, home to the Komodo dragon. Those stops give the Southeast Asia portion specific points of interest beyond the region’s broad label.

By December 2028, the focus shifts to New Zealand. Travelnews.co reports that Symphony will cruise through Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and Dusky Sound, with festive voyages continuing around the region. These are scenic-cruising highlights, rather than simply another list of ports.

The itinerary series concludes in Melbourne on Jan. 7, 2029, according to Cruise Industry News. Travelnews.co reports that Symphony will begin its World Cruise there that day; the Melbourne arrival is therefore a transition into a separate chapter of the ship’s schedule.

Crystal Serenity sails from Fort Lauderdale to Asia and Alaska

Serenity begins its series on Dec. 4, 2028, departing Fort Lauderdale for Central America and Mexico. TTR Weekly reports that this portion includes new visits to Corinto, Nicaragua, and Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, before the ship crosses the Pacific toward Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia and Southeast Asia.

According to Cruise Industry News, Serenity’s new calls include Hilo, Hawaii, and Cooktown, Australia. Its onward schedule takes in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and China, setting up a substantial Japan program in March and April.

Travelnews.co places those Japan sailings during cherry blossom season, with calls including Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Kochi, Nagoya, Shimizu and Osaka. It also reports scenic cruising through the Kanmon Strait, followed by Shanghai and other destinations in Japan and South Korea. TTR Weekly identifies the strait as the link between the Sea of Japan and the Seto Inland Sea.

Serenity then heads north from Japan in May. Cruise Industry News lists Aomori and Kushiro before the Pacific crossing to Alaska, where the ship will visit Kodiak and Homer. The series ends in Seward on May 28, 2029.

Start with the season, then choose the sailing

The clearest way to approach this release is by seasonal interest, not just ship name. Travelnews.co’s highlights put Rio’s Carnival season with Grace, springtime Japan with Serenity and December’s New Zealand sounds with Symphony. Those are meaningful differences for travelers choosing between destinations that appear across a wide-ranging announcement.

With bookings opening Oct. 20, the next step is to match the specific sailing to the highlight you actually want. An extended Rio stay and a passage through New Zealand’s sounds are very different reasons to book; this schedule gives both room to stand on their own.
